What's Your Question?

Main Question: I wonder how the world was created?
Answer:
The Earth was created 4.54 billion years ago when part of the Sun's accretion disc agglomerated into a spherical body. At that time, shortly after the birth of the Sun itself, the solar system's matter was much more scattered around, in the form of asteroids and dust rather than planets. This "matter cloud" has been called a Bok globule, and these globules have been observed in other parts of the Galaxy. Scientists have determined the age of the Earth relatively precisely using isotope dating of the world's oldest rocks.

It is not known precisely what mechanism caused the precursor of the solar system, a gaseous nebulae, to form into the Sun and its attendant accretion disc. It may have been shockwaves from a nearby supernova, or simple gravitational collapse due to a threshold density. Whatever the cause, when enough density gathered in the center of the gas cloud, it ignited to become the Sun. The resulting heat banished volatiles (materials with low melting points) to the outer solar system, while leaving rocky bodies, like the Earth, Mercury, Venus, and Mars, in the inner solar system, where they could grow.

R: wisegeek is a website I have never heard of but by the sound of it I think it is pretty reliable. It does not say the county code but does say htm at the end. I have also never have heard of the organizantion.
E: The information I found was sicentific and useful. The information looked very accurate and the information was also complete. Also the
sources are sited, there are adds and the articale was last updated October 5th 2011.
A:The articale was wrote by Michael Anissimov who is a journalist on futurist issues. There are ways to contact the author and he seems pretty knowalegable.
L: the domain name does change and the links lead to wierd not very trustful websites but the site everything on is trustful.
By what I see I think my site is pretty credible.
I observed that these days there are more recyling bins than before.
recycling_bins_gah2.JPG
It makes me think that more people in the world are recyling even as I say it.

Push Your Thinking:

What other connections can I draw to my observation?
  • I can see now that more people recyling and that means there is less garbage in landfills.

Probe with Questions:

What questions did your observations, thoughts or connections raise?
  • I wonder if the whole world is recyling?
  • It also says that people want to make a change and help the planet.

I Wonder Questions

I wonder how people, words and objects were created?
I wonder what lives at the bottom of the ocean?
I wonder why the dinosuars went extinct?
I wonder how people used to live?
I wonder who was the first person on earth?
I wonder where heaven is?

  • Last year everyone helped to get the mural were it is now.

Probe with Questions:

What questions did your observations, thoughts or connections raise?
  • It was fun working together sorting and drilling the bottle caps all together.

Whats Your Question about the World?

  • I wonder if the homework the teachers at BCS give their students is too stressful for them?
  • I wonder how we can attemp to save some endangered species?

Strategies:

  • I am going to ask 6th graders and 5th graders in my class and Mrs. Cook's class if they think it is stressful and why.
  • I am going to do some research with my group

Key Question: What percent is each kind of bodies of water around the world?

Answers, notes and other things about my questions
  • Water is chemical energy
  • The biggest bodies of water is the saline oceans witch is 97%
  • The surface water is the least witch is 0.3%
  • Drinking water that is sanitary has improved over the years
  • In 2025 they are predicting that almost half of the worlds water might be facing water-based vulnerability.

Websites where i found my information and pictures

I observed a garden with vegtables and other flowers
My picture of a school garden
school_garden_2.jpg

It made me think about my garden at home because i grow lots of the same things that the school grows a example is tomatos and that is mostly why i took a picture of the garden because i noticed the things in it.

Push Your Thinking:

What other connections can I draw to my observation?
  • I think that People should help out with the garden because it could make the school greener and i have one and they are really cool to watch everything grow and we could have fresh vegetables with our school lunches and just to make it look nice by the playground.

Probe with Questions:

What questions did your observations, thoughts or connections raise?
  • Why is the earth a sphere?
  • How much of the earth is water?
  • What percent is each kind of bodies of water around the world?
  • Why is over half of the earth mountains?
  • how was earth created?
  • How did the continent's separate after time?
  • Why does it seem that there are a lot of rivers but it only lists them for 2%?
  • how was earth made?
  • What made the continent's spread apart after time?
  • How did people start to invent technology and what did they use?

I observed cars passing on a busy road.

Traveling long roads out in the country. Why do people make long highways? Why not just roads? Do the people get bothered that live by highways?

What other connections can I draw to my observation?
  • How cars are always the same on the outside, but its your car so it is special.
  • How the same cars are always in the same place.

Probe with Questions:

What questions did your observations, thoughts or connections raise?
  • Waking up in the morning and waiting to hear a whoosh of a car.
  • How peaceful it is in the morning when a car passes.

  • Why aren't there any green stars?

  • How did the first people come to the world?
  • Why does the earth have dirt and rocks?
  • Why did the ice ages happen?
  • Why does the earth orbit the sun?

Is green just not important?

Key Question: Why aren't there any green stars?
Why Did I Ask This Question?: Simply because I remembered in 3rd grade they told us that there are no green stars. Since I love the color green I just wondered. (Plus the earth is green)

Answer: The color of the stars reflects on the temp. of the star. The answer is that there are stars that are green, that is, they make their peak of radiation at a color that we call green. When we look at the star, then all these colors are mixed and it looks like the color white. So you don't ever see a green-looking star through a telescope.

Other Info:
  • Colors of stars are red, blue, yellow, green, purple, and White. But we don't see purple or green because they look like other colors or because of radiation.
  • Red stars are the coldest and Blue stars are the hottest.
  • There are also purple stars, which make the peak radiation in the violet part of the spectrum. But we don't see purple stars because our eyes are more sensitive to blue light than to purple light.

Ways that this is a green light site
R-The site has a ".edu" at the end so you can tell that this is a website that has done their job. Also professors answered my question about green stars.
E- You can verify the information easily because topics are under tabs. If you have not noticed there is a search engine at the bottom.
A- The people who made the websites are college students and professors so you can see it has good information.
L- The links actually go to a whole different website for information, not just back to themselves.

Thank You For Your Time!!
